How does the competition work?
Nominations are now closed, but the finalists should be announced in the next couple of weeks.
The five finalists will be chosen by the expert judging panel.
The winner will be selected with a final vote by the SQL Server Central community and the judges, and announced on SQL Server Central in September 2012. The award ceremony will take place at the 2012 Pass Summit in Seattle in October.

What are the prizes?
The Exceptional DBA of the Year receives full conference registration for the 2012 PASS Summit in Seattle, where the awards ceremony will take place, four nights' hotel accommodation, and $300 towards travel expenses. They will also be featured on Simple-Talk.
The winner and the finalists will each receive a copy of Red Gate's SQL DBA Bundle with 36 months of support and upgrades. The finalists will also be awarded certificates of recognition.
