Hall of Fame
2012 Meredith Ryan
Meredith Ryan is a self-taught DBA with more than 10 years of IT experience. She is chapter chair for the Women in Technology Virtual Chapter of PASS and on the Albuquerque NM PASS chapter board.
Not only did I not expect to win the XDBA award in 2012, I never expected that months
later people would still introduce me as the 2012 XDBA – but it keeps happening!
Since being recognized by my peers last fall I have been presented with a handful of new
employment opportunities - including one that I couldn't pass up.
The XDBA award has opened doors for me that might not have been there otherwise
2011 Jeff Moden
Jeff Moden has been working with SQL Server since version 6.5. He's well known as a writer for Simple-Talk and SQLServerCentral, where his articles are routinely read by tens of thousands.
I never set out to win this award...I just didn't think there was a chance and no,
that's not false humility. Yet, thanks to the thoughtfulness of an unknown number of
people, here I am...going to SQL PASS as the winner of a worldwide contest to choose
an exceptional DBA. This is a lifetime achievement come early for me.
2010 Tracy Hamlin
Tracy Hamlin has been a Database Administrator for over 25 years, moving from working with Oracle and Sybase to working exclusively with SQL Server.
I
had several people recognize me at the PASS Summit and the opportunity to meet so
many new people. After receiving the award I had several new job offers and was
thrilled to submit some SQL scripts for Red Gate’s SQL Scripts Manager tool. The
recognition has given me new confidence and the drive to accomplish even loftier
goals.
2009 Josef Richberg
Josef Richberg works at HarperCollins Publishers. He is responsible for identifying and implementing key architectural components, training, and improving the performance of over 130 applications.
Being
recognized by your peers is the highest honor one can receive. I have been given
the opportunity to give virtual presentations, write, blog, and network with a very large and supportive SQL twitter
community. It is an unbelievable community that has become an extended family.

2008 Dan McClain
Dan McClain is senior DBA at GatewayEDI. He has 30 years of I.T. experience, including 23 as technical lead for the SQL Server team at Anheuser-Busch in St.Louis, where he oversaw 4,000 databases on 300 SQL Servers.
It
brings another level of ‘wow’ to my resume, like having a special certification.
Since receiving the award I’ve made a couple of great job changes, done local speaking
and participated in community events. It has personally increased my confidence
level.
